The rug should serve the space.
Custom handmade rugs for interior designers — sized, coloured and drawn for one project at a time.

Every exceptional space deserves a rug made with intention.
A rug brings balance to a room, adds warmth and defines a space. It should not be the thing you compromise on.
Most rug suppliers sell what is already in the warehouse — fixed sizes, fixed colourways, a fixed set of materials. When none of it fits the scheme, the rug is what gets adapted.
Rugaaya works the other way around. You send a palette, a moodboard, a dimension or a concept, and we make the rug to it.
India produces roughly 40% of the world’s handmade rugs. Most Australian designers reach that supply chain through several intermediaries, which is where sizes get rounded and colours get approximated.
We remove that distance. One contact in Sydney, and the brief goes straight to a workshop with more than thirty years of production behind it.
A catalogue, not a warehouse.
Every design is a starting point. Rescale it, recolour it, redraw it — the design library is where the conversation begins, not where it ends.
You speak to the loom.
No importer and no agent between your brief and the weaver. The brief goes straight to the workshop that makes the rug.
Years behind the workshop.
Three decades of rug production and long-standing artisan networks in India, now available to Australian designers.
Size, palette, fibre.
No standard sizes and no fixed colourways. The rug is made to the dimensions of the room it is going into.
The collection
All eight public pieces →Counted,
not described.
A hand-knotted rug is measured in knots per square inch, and every knot is tied by hand around a cotton warp. We quote the number rather than calling the rug “fine”.
Persian knot 9–225. Tibetan knot 25–121. Turkish knot 9–64. We also weave dhurrie, sumac, handloom and hand-tufted constructions.
